An outdoor performance at the West Ryde Easter Celebration on a Roland stage piano brought unexpected challenges and rewards. From adjusting to a different touch and sound projection to connecting with a warm, supportive audience, this performance became a memorable reflection on music, community, and shared joy.

After performing the waltz at Wednesday’s lunchtime concert, I listened back to the recording and reflected on several musical details to refine, from establishing a clearer opening pulse to shaping resonance in a dry acoustic. With more performances ahead, this reflection marks another step in letting the piece mature through live experience.
